2nd Episode of Season Nine's "Dancing With The Stars"

Last night we got a good look at the guys. Tonight, we will be able to get our first good look at this season's female contestants. We'll talk about how good of a match we think each couple is, we'll score them on a scale of 1-10 points, and we'll critique each couple. We will also make any pertinent comments regarding the show's, judge's comments. We absolutely adore and respect all three judges on the show, but we don't always agree with them, so as a result, we may comment on their comments from time to time. Let the dancing begin!

The opening number: "She's a Lady" with the female dancers can't help but be entertaining.

Debbie and Max: Salsa-There were some transitional issues where there was a pregnant pause, suggesting a problem with musicality and timing. Plenty of confidence, coordination, and stage presence. Continue improving pointing toes and keeping back straight
My Score 6 Mom's Score 5
Average Score 5.5
Comparison with Show's Judges Scores of 6,5,5 Average Score 5.3

Melissa and Mark: Viennese Waltz-Melissa was a little stiff, nervous, and unsure of herself. She did show a good sense of timing, some flexibility, and a sweet smile. Even though it was simple, she carried it off with honor.
My Score 6 Mom's Score 7 Total 9 Average Score 6.5
Comparison with Show's Judges Scores of 6,6,6
Average Score 6

Mya and Dmitry : Viennese Waltz-Great job. Superb flow, stage presence, confidence, and the spins and turns were great. Work on flexibility, especially on kicks, and get into the performance side of the dance as well. The judges need to get a grip and quit yelling at each other. This was Mya's first time up and she deserved more respect than that. She was a trooper and successfully kicked back the tears. Great potential. Best dance so far!!
My score 8 Mom's Score 7 Average Score 7.5
Comparison with Show's Judges Score of 8,5,8 Average Score 7

Kathy and Tony: Salsa-Kathy is a beautiful girl. Being taller than Tony doesn't help her look feminine. She needed to loosen up, feel the music, and show more confidence. The judges didn't help to improve her confidence. They're still reeling from the big fight and were pretty nasty with her. Kathy and Tony were gracious receivers of the mostly snarly comments. They're class acts. Dance wise, Kathy is weak and will have to work very hard to overcome her lack of coordination.
My score 6 Mom's score 6
Average Score 6
Comparison with Show's Judges Score of 6,5,5
Average Score 5.3

Natalie and Alec: Salsa-Natalie has potential. She was cautious and timid, but better than Kathy Ireland. She enjoyed herself more and is obviously very flexible with some gymnastic abilities. That will work to her advantage, but she still has a lot of work ahead of her.
My score 7 Mom's score 6. Average Score 6.5
Comparison with Show's J
udges Score of 7,6,6 Average Score 6.3

Macy and Johnathan: Vienesse Waltz-Macy did not look like the song "Natural Woman". She needs to close her mouth, reign in her arms, and smooth out her motion. She is going to have a hard time being disciplined enough to really make a go of this.
My score 4 Mom's score 5 Average Score 4.5
Comparison with Show's Judges Score of 6, 4,5 Average Score 5

Joanna and Derek: Salsa-That was the best Salsa of the night! She did a great job. She needs to be careful to not mouth the words. She looks at Derek, but nees to remember she has an audience. You can't ignore them, they are the ones who vote for you, and it's important for the likeability factor. With Derek Hough as her partner, they could go all they way.
My score 8 Mom's Score 7 Average Score 7.5
Comparison with Show's Judges Score of 8,8,8 Average Score 8

Kelly and Louie: Viennese Waltz-Surprise, Surprise, Surprise. I am so proud of you Kelly and I'll bet your mom is too. You looked like a beautiful young lady out there. You had great technique, posture, and stage presence. I agree with Len. It was the best Waltz tonight.
My score 8 Mom's score 8 Average Score 8

Comparison with Show's Judges Score of 7,8,8 Average Score 7.6

Side-by-Side Relay: (Foxtrot) The judges liked Joanna best, so did we. Kathy was better, but still kind of stiff. Natalie did a great job, probably 2nd behind Joanna, in our opinion. Debbie needs to not lead Max, but she too looked better.

Side-by-Side Relay: (Chachacha) Macy please close your mouth and your technique was seriously lacking, but you were much better suited for this type of dance. Melissa looked like she was really enjoying herself. She should come in 3rd. Mya looked like she was born to do Latin dancing. Kelly, again what a pleasant surprise. Kelly should be 2nd behind Mya in this relay.
